Qingdao’s ZhouJiaKuang Eco-Park: (青岛周家夼瑞源生态园)

Zhoujiakuang Eco Park

This is a nice little park that makes for a nice motorcycle ride or an afternoon car drive if you live in the Qingdao area. I think it is not that special of a destination if you have to come from another Shandong city but if visiting Qingdao then you may want to make it part of your plans.

This eco-friendly park starts at the base of one of Little Pearl’s (小珠山) water reservoirs. The park was developed in 2002 by the RuiYuan Development Group. It covers an area of 1.3 million square meters and there are ten sections in this park that includes several areas with unique trees that are suppose to be over 1000 years old. The walk ways travel throughout the park where you can see many types of plants, shrubs and flowers. Don’t forget to tour through the Yinfeng Green Tea gardens as well.

Zhoujiakuang Creek

The park also includes several places you can fish and a golf driving range if you want to knock some balls around. Have a nice lunch or dinner in the DaXiAn Forrest Hills restaurant. Climb the steps to the top of the dam and you will get a nice view of Qingdao’s Technological Development Zone (青岛开发区).

DaXiAn Forrest Hills Restaurant

DaXiAn Forrest Hills Restaurant: (大溪岸森林山庄)
DaXiAn Forrest Hills restaurant is a beautiful little spot where you can enjoy some Shandong Chinese food or have a cold beer on the patio tables in the front of the restaurant. If you are going there with a group or require some special dishes I suggest you call ahead to book a room and make sure they have the food you want. Also tell them to put lots of beer in the fridge so you can be sure to have lots of cold drinks if that is what you want.

For information or reservations call: 0532-8672 3899 or managers mobile at 13969816002.

Location: How to get to ZhouJiaKuang Eco-Park

Driving Directions:
This park is located on the east side of Little Pearl Mountain (小珠山) in Huangdao or Qingdao Technological Development Zone. At the intersection of Haier Road and FuChunJiang Road you will see a no name village type road that heads west about 20 meters south of FuChunJiang Road. (Almost like a west continuation of FuChunJiang Road.)

Drive straight west on this no named village road right to the end about ½ kilometer and you will come up to the creek that flows south from the dam.

Follow the road to the right which takes you north to the park gates. From there you can drive in and you will see many of the sights in the above pictures. Notice the grounds map at the park entrance and enjoy your day.

Note: As of August 2012 the village is being torn down so the road and access may be a little rough but drive right passed all that and you will arrive at this little oasis.
