Huangdao Cang Ma Shan: (黄岛藏马山)

Ancient Chinese folklore tells us the story of a great General named Cang. General Cang was in possession of the most coveted horse on the battlefield; a legendary stallion. Rather than face the possibility of losing the steed, he had his best men hide it away in a mountain forever.

They say that the horse is still locked away within this mountain, called Cang Ma Shan; awaiting his Masters’ return.

With its amusement park, big crowds and children’s playgrounds located on the basin it is hard to imagine a great warrior in China with his mighty horse and army, that is, until you climb up the mountain. As I began my ascent and looked over my shoulder, it became quite clear to me that this mountain is strategically advantageous indeed. From its peaks, it is evident that you can see for miles and miles. In fact, I could see all the way to the city of Jiaonan, which is located some 30 kilometers plus away. Looking down from the top, I felt that I had become a great General myself. If only for a moment. – Russell J. McCann

Cang Ma Mountain Park is a quite new and quite a beautiful tourist park for children with many different kinds of amusement rides like in the above pictures. Like many tourist parks there are lots of fake set ups for wedding photos.

In September 2015, I took my 2 ½ year old and found of the 15 or so rides she was only allowed on 3 because she was under 1.4 meters. A little sad for her as she was excited to go on them all and when we were turned away she cried and we had to be creative and point to other things she could do to distract her from that ride.

Overall the park is very clean and a recommended spot to visit if you have children. Best for kids between 5-15 years old. In this first picture above, you can scan the QR Code to get more details in Chinese for this park.
